Wishing all of our followers and supporters the very best for the year ahead!
Admittedly 2022 was a largely disappointing year for the Fenland on Film project however.
The positives:
Filmed the Haddenham Steam Rally on 16mm and Super 8.
Filmed at Ely Cathedral for the occasion of Queen Elizabeth II’s State Funeral on 16mm.
Filmed briefly at March’s Christmas Lights Switch On with Super 8.
Filmed Fen Skating at Upware on Super 8.
Released our Super 8 film of Mepal Outdoor Centre shot in November 2021.
Another appearance on ITV Anglia News in support of the Hovertrain project.
We also managed to raise enough funds to scan all of the Hovertrain 35mm film material so we can now move on to the next stage of the documentary project.
Where it fell short:
Sadly we didn’t raise enough funds to complete any of the films shot last year so they’ll remain in refrigerated storage until such a time that we can financially revisit them for development and scanning.
We still don’t have enough financial support to realise a documentary for RTV31 – The Hovertrain.
Looking ahead at 2023:
Whittlesea Straw Bear Festival 2023 – we’re expecting to attend and film some of this year’s event on Super 8 (weather permitting).
I’ll be doubling down on my search for sponsorship, investment and donations to ensure that I can grow the project beyond what it is now.
The Hovertrain documentary will hopefully progress through the recording of interviews with those who worked on the project or were witness to it.
There is potential for it to be a good year for Fenland on Film.
