Fenland on Film also has some exclusives thanks to private individuals / organisations that have entrusted their films to the project:
Extremely rare amateur 16mm colour film showing the Paten family at Hunstanton and other scenes in August 1939.
Filmed by Harry Paten, this is truly a unique and captivating journey back in time to pre-World War II Britain and, more specifically, the Fens. Harry passed the film down to his son, Rev Richard Paten, who later entrusted it into the care of Brian Pearce before it was made available to Fenland on Film.
Brand new 4K transfer for this 16mm, WWII era Movietone film – released for the 80th anniversary of VE Day.
Filmed in Littleport, Cambs on 10th March 1941 at the start of “War Weapons Week”.
“War Weapons Week” was a nationwide campaign in the UK, organized to encourage people to save in Government War Bonds and other similar government fundraising activities. These weeks were a way to rally support for the war effort and help finance the re-armament of the British military.
